Window Blind Cord Attorney James Onder Featured in New York Times Article on Window Blind Cord Strangulation Hazards
Window blind cords have long posed a grave danger to children. The cords on many window blinds are a recipe for strangulation in millions of homes across the country, often existing in daycare facilities. The New York Times recently profiled the case of a Maryland woman who lost her 2-year old son to window blind cord strangulation. This needless event was yet another in a long line of blind cord deaths and injuries, a risk known to the window blind cord manufacturing industry for decades. The recently published New York Times article titled "A Debate Over Window Blinds" by Andrew Martin (April 20, 2011) detailed the Consumer Protection Safety Commission's struggle with the window blind manufacturing industry for an ultimately line of "safe" over "safer" products and how that fight has been driven by two St. Louis, Missouri residents. The article focused on two St. Louis area, Linda Kaiser of Parents for Window Blind Safety and James Onder of The Onder Law Firm, which has represented parents in window blind lawsuits in over 27 states.
